High School The High School Experience at Hoover Christian School
9th -10th Grade
Students begin their high school experience with a combination of classes from Hoover Christian School teachers and classes through the Distance Learning Academy (DLA)
9th-10th Grade HCS Classes (2010-11) Algebra I, Physical Science, Geometry, World History, and Tutor for DLA Math and Science Classes Mr. Haley presents these outstanding qualifications: · College economics professor · Author of math standards for Southern Union · Published textbook author · MBA degree . Paramedic/Firefighter · Scholarship football player—University of Maryland Mr. Herr brings the following experience to the classroom: . College writing instructor . Parish and campus pastor . Mr. Grice offers these credentials: . School administration experience . Technology Director for HCS and advisor to other organizations . BA degree in Education/Computers 9th-10th Grade DLA Classes (2010-11) English I/ Religion I, English II/Religion II, Spanish I These classes will be taught by assigned teachers through the DLA Program. 11th and 12th grade students will take all of their classes through the Distance Learning Academy. State of the art technology connects students at Hoover Christian School with selected master teachers and students from all over the United States. Classmates can be found as far away as Green Bay, Wisconsin or even Washington state! Classes include live lectures and discussion, individual or group presentations made on camera, papers and homework sent via e-mail, and web based assignments and tests. Students receive personal attention from DLA instructors, our facilitator (Misty McFall), and our high school director (Mr. Haley). The Distance Learning Academy is operated by Forest Lake Academy and students who complete this program will receive a fully accredited diploma from this well-respected prep school located in Apopka, FL. Advantages of the Distance Learning Academy program:
· Students can continue attending HCS through high school.
· The DLA has an outstanding academic record (with 95% of its graduates going on to college) and a strong spiritual emphasis.
· The technological applications learned in DLA translate very well into skills needed in the modern workplace.
